Jonathan helps scaling companies expand to and operate successfully in the United States. Since moving permanently to the UK in 2007, he has advised more than 400 businesses across sectors including software, professional services, consulting and manufacturing, guiding them through the legal and commercial complexities of entering and operating in the US market.

A dual-qualified lawyer in the United States and England & Wales, Jonathan brings over 40 years’ experience spanning both private practice and in-house commercial roles. Before relocating to the UK, he practiced commercial litigation in Manhattan and Chicago and was both founder and in-house counsel for a Princeton, New Jersey-based property development company. This blend of legal and commercial experience enables him to provide pragmatic advice grounded in the realities of building and running businesses.

Jonathan takes a practical, commercially focused approach to legal problem-solving, always ensuring that legal strategies align with wider tax, employment and operational objectives. He is particularly known for distilling complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance that enables business leaders to make confident decisions as they grow in the US market.

Jonathan is an avid cook and music lover, and recently joined an Edinburgh-based men’s choir. He and his wife enjoy exploring their adopted country and getting lost in Britain’s beautiful countryside.
